Replacing Protected Disks

A physical disk can be replaced seamlessly and without interruption to data access if the disk is part of a protected drive.

blueexclamation.jpg   The new replacement must be the same size or no more than 128 MB larger in size.

Note: In the case of an unprotected drive, in order to replace a physical disk, the entire unprotected drive should be copied to a new drive. After all data has been copied to the new drive, the original unprotected drive can be deleted and the physical disk can be removed.

To replace a protected disk:

1           In the List View, right-click the drive which contains the disk to replace and select Replace Protected Disk. Tip

2           The Replace Protected Disk dialog box will appear.

3           In this box, select the disk to replace (left side) and select the replacement disk (right side).  
blueexclamation.jpg  The replacement disk must be the same size or no more than 128 MB larger than the remaining disk that is being protected.

4           Click Replace Disk. While the request is being processed, a message with progress bar will be displayed.
