Hypervisor Compatibility
DataCore storage virtualization software provides virtual disks (block storage LUNs) to all the popular hypervisors (server virtualization platforms) that use standard disk drives with 512 byte sectors. These include:
- VMware ESX, vSphere
- Microsoft Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008
- Citrix XenServer
Those hypervisors access the virtual disks using SAN protocols, including iSCSI, Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.
Storage Virtualization inside a VM- DataCore SANsymphony-V software may also run on locked-down Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems hosted on virtual machines (VMs) on top of any of these hypervisors. In these scenarios, the DataCore software virtualizes the disk drives locally-attached to the physical server and makes them available to other application VMs on the same physical server through internal virtual iSCSI SANs.
Storage Virtualization on top of Hyper-V- DataCore SANsymphony-V software may also run directly on top of Hyper-V locked-down Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system. In these scenarios, the DataCore software virtualizes the disk drives locally-attached to the physical server and makes them available to application VMs on the same physical server through internal virtual iSCSI SANs.
