SAN Compatibility (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, etc.)

You may configure DataCore storage virtualization software to take advantage of standard SAN protocols. In most cases physical SANs connect the storage consumer (hosts) to the virtual disks. However, they may also be virtual SANs, as is the case when virtual machines (VMs) access the DataCore software hosted on the same physical server using a virtual iSCSI connection.

SAN Protocols Supported

Target Connection (from Hosts)

  • iSCSI (Switched and point-to-point)
  • Fibre Channel (Switched and point-to-point)
  • Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)
    >Switched - Host uses Converged Network Adapter (CNA), and switch outputs Fibre Channel

Initiator (to Back-end Storage Devices)

  • iSCSI
  • Fibre Channel

Mirror Channels (Between DataCore Nodes)

  • iSCSI
  • Fibre Channel
