Hello,

the DL385G5p has 1 PCIe slot more then DL380G5 and the DL580G5 has 11 PCIe Slots. Our Performance with HP Servers and Datacore is great.

mostly we used HP DL 380 G5 without any problems, with 3 or 4 hba's.

But you only have 3 long and 2 low profile PCIe ports, and you have using one for example for p400i for the Windows/Datacore itself.

Using more, you could use ML 370, which have more PCIe.

But when you need great performance and not every ? counts, go up with DL585 AMD Opteron systems with Shanghai CPU. These systems rocks.

HP server H/W for DataCore storage servers

Hi There,

Could anyone give me some recommendations about HP or DELL servers being used as DataCore storage servers? Below are my requirements:

1. Accommodates at least four dual-port PCI-E Qlogic FC HBAs. I heard that servers from certain vendors can only support limited number of HBAs per server.
2. Supports at least two quad-core Intel CPUs.
3. Good performance in terms of H/W architecture. I know it is possible for several expansion slots to share a bus controller and it introduces performance issues, and we want to avoid that as much as possible.

Our top priority is HP servers. If HP does not have any servers that can meet our requirements, DELL servers are also acceptable.

Thanks,
