Thank you,

we have upgraded the version of EVA VCS to 4.x, and all is all right.

Regards.

edorta,

in the moment you install SANsymphony you overwrite the previously installed HBA driver with the DataCore driver. This is the reason why the HP MPIO DSM doesn't work anymore and you 'see' the disks multiple times.

After you installed SSY, exchange the driver on those HBAs you use for accessing the EVA5000 with the original HBA drivers. Find more information here: TechBulletin #1

Multipath problems

Hi,

I have a problem with one SDS in my SANSynphony environment. I have 2 SDS, SDS2 is attached to my EVA8100 Storage System, and the SDS1 is attached to my EVA5000. I am having some problems with SDS1.

The firmware of EVA5000 is VCS 3.110. Then the EVA5000 is in Active/Pasive mode. This is a very important detail because LUN distribution only works in active/active configurations.

I have installed MPIO 1.02, the last compatible version for EVA 5000 VCS 3110 firmware. Without SANSymphony installed I show 1 disk per LUN in disk manager, and in Device Management I show disks with name "multipath disk". It works perfect. But when I install SANSymphony (with LUN distribution disabled) I can see multiple disks per presentation in disk manager and in device manager. I think that this version of MPIO doesn't work with SANSymphony. I tested with LUN distribution enabled but DataCore doesn't manage multipath correctly with this Storage System.

I have installed 6.0.3 update 1 version installed on 2 SDSs.

The EVA5000 could work in Active/Active mode upgrading the controller's firmware to a VCS 4.xxx version. The upgrade would be the solution? Any other idea?

Thanks.
