The most improvement in this solution will turn in with the new vmxnet3 nic type. 10 gig ethernet.
If you pin yout ESX to the local SDS you get awesome throughput.

Edit-

Waiting for the support of 3g SAS over vmDirectPathIO :-)
This will make this solution Perfect.

Iam installing this since 3.0.2

Hello,

I am not sure that the new Paravirtual SCSI adapter will give you more performance in terms of throughput in comparison with the other storage adapters that are available for the Virtual Machine. What I am sure about is that the new adapter will save you a lot of cpu cycles and so increasing the CPU efficiency.

Hi Osiwan,

As far as I know DataCore supports any Windows certified storage, regardless which controller technology you use.

This would mean if the vSphere driver presents a working disk, it should be supported.

At the DataCore Partner Conference in Düsseldorf there was a demo from a TechData guy showing exactly your idea. It worked pretty fast, but I can not tell if he used the paravirtualised SCSI controller. He definitely used the new VMxNet NIC driver.

Hello,
It's my first post. I'm looking for an entry level DR solution.
2 Storage VM's will replicate the local storage associated to them in order to create an active/active fully redundant iSCSI SAN
There is a performance reduction beetwen a real machine and a virtualized one. The idea is to use the new vSphere Paravirtual SCSI controller to leverage the performance lost.
There is a windows 2003 driver for this controller.
I would like to know if Datacore will support this configuration and if someone has some experience with.
Thank's for your suggestion.
