Yes it is. Great eh?

But of course, you need to be sure that the OS of the application server(s) to which you will map such a volume can handle a disk that big - not all can.

And as with all technology, just becuase you can do a thing doesn't mean that you should! The bigger the Vvol that you create, the more server resources on the SDS that will be consumed supporting it internally so you may be limiting the number of Vvols that you can create on that SDS if you create too many.

Only create a 'large' LUN (>2TB) if your application really needs it and is going to use it.

Hi- I have a question concerning PSP3 of SMY. I know that we can now add disks that are more than 2TB in size. My question is this- can this release of SMY present more than 2TB of storage to application servers as well? Thanks.

The VVol size is not the only thing that now has the Petabyte limit. You can also use (GPT) raw disks up to this size in NMV pools.

The recent improvements are really nice, especially the new size limit, ALUA support, redundant mirror paths, raw disk mirroring, snapshot groups and of course x64 support.

I´m loving it.

I almost couldn't believe my eyes - with SANmelody 3.0.3 the max Virtual Volume logical size is now:

1 Petabyte / 1024 Terabyte / 1048576 Gigabyte

Wow!
