Operating Systems (Hosts)

SANsymphony™ and DataCore™ Hyper-converged Virtual SAN software provide virtual disks (block storage LUNs) to all of the popular host operating systems that use standard disk drives with 512 byte or 4K byte sectors. These include:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, 2012, 2008, 2003, and 2000
  • Windows 2016 (will be supported when final release candidate is available)
  • Microsoft Windows 7
  • Novell Netware
  • Unix
  • HP-UX
  • IBM AIX
  • Sun Solaris
  • RedHat Linux
  • SUSE Linux
  • Linux KVM
  • Ubuntu

These hosts access the virtual disks using SAN protocols, including iSCSI, Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.

SANsymphony software and DataCore™ Hyper-Converged Virtual SAN software run on locked-down Windows Server 2012 and 2008 R2 operating systems.

Note: Mainframe operating systems such as IBM z/OS, z/TPF, z/VSE or z/VM are not supported
