Hypervisors

Compatibility

SANsymphony™ and DataCore™ Hyper-converged Virtual SAN software serve virtual disks (block storage LUNs) to all of the popular hypervisors (server virtualization platforms) that use standard disk drives with 512 byte or 4Kbyte sectors. These include:

Those hypervisors access the virtual disks using SAN protocols, including iSCSI, Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.

DataCore software running in a Virtual Machine (VM)- DataCore SANsymphony and Virtual SAN software may also run on Windows Server operating systems hosted on virtual machines (VMs) on top of any of these hypervisors.

DataCore software running on Hyper-V-
DataCore SANsymphony and Virtual SAN software may also run directly on the Windows Server operating system in the root (parent) partition without taking up a Hyper-V VM.

DataCore software running on top of Windows Server -
DataCore SANsymphony and Virtual SAN software may also run directly on top of physical Windows Servers without the need for a hypervisor. This is sometimes referred to as a bare metal machine.
