La sfida
TodoEnCloud is a Spanish cloud services provider (CSP) delivering enterprise-grade IT and application hosting for businesses that depend on performance, flexibility, and security. As the company expanded its managed Kubernetes-as-a-Service offering, new technical challenges emerged.
The CSP needed to operate Kubernetes clusters across three data centers in Spain, running mission-critical applications such as electronic signature management, AI-driven document workflows, and business process automation. These workloads required persistent, low- latency, and highly resilient storage that could maintain a zero-downtime SLA for end customers.
However, native Kubernetes is not designed for data persistence, and traditional Container Storage Interface (CSI) options proved insufficient. Standard NFS-based CSI drivers failed to deliver the IOPS and scalability needed for high usage, while open-source alternatives such as Longhorn performed well in testing but were not production-ready. Even Portworx, after extensive evaluation, fell short in technical and operational consistency.
TodoEnCloud needed a high-performance, Kubernetes- native persistent storage platform capable of delivering the enterprise reliability their customers expected— without adding operational complexity.
The Solution
After evaluating multiple approaches, TodoEnCloud selected DataCore Puls8 to power its Kubernetes infrastructure. Puls8, a software-defined, container-native storage solution, brings enterprise-grade performance and resilience directly into Kubernetes environments.
With Puls8, TodoEnCloud gained a high-availability architecture that replicates data across nodes, ensuring continuous service delivery even during hardware or site-level failures. Puls8’s ultra-low latency and high IOPS NVMe performance provided the speed needed for TodoEnCloud’s demanding AI and document automation workloads, while its flexible scaling model allowed them to expand across multi-cluster environments effortlessly.
Integration with Veeam Kasten for Kubernetes backup and recovery added another layer of operational protection, streamlining data management and simplifying compliance for their enterprise customers. Equally significant was the human element. Throughout the deployment and optimization phases, DataCore’s engineering and support teams worked closely with TodoEnCloud to fine-tune the environment and align it with their business goals.
The collaboration transformed TodoEnCloud’s Kubernetes services, enabling them to offer enterprise- class resilience and performance—previously achievable only through complex and costly proprietary solutions.
I risultati
The implementation of Puls8 has allowed TodoEnCloud to meet and surpass its original objectives:
- Over the course of the proof-of-concept and subsequent rollout, Puls8 exceeded all technical requirements, outperforming Portworx in both performance and reliability. From a financial standpoint, TodoEnCloud achieved a 10% reduction in total cost compared to alternative solutions, while simplifying storage operations and reducing administrative overhead.
- Operationally, Puls8 introduced a level of efficiency that allowed TodoEnCloud to focus more on service innovation rather than infrastructure maintenance. The solution’s scalability has positioned the company to expand its Kubernetes services to ten clusters across Spain, ensuring a consistent, reliable, and high-performance experience for customers.
