DataCore Swarm Wins 2021 NAB Show Product of the Year Award

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – November 8, 2021 – Today DataCore Software, the largest independent vendor of Software-Defined Storage solutions, announced that its DataCore Swarm object storage was selected as the Best New Cloud Computing and Virtualization technology winner in the 2021 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards. The awards program recognizes the most significant and promising new products and technologies showcased by corporate partners of NAB Show.

DataCore Swarm was chosen after beating out several other competitors in the category, including VAST Data, Komprise, Wasabi Technologies, Frame.IO, Telestream, EditShare and Grass Valley.

The increase in digital media consumption has driven demand for a massive amount of video content creation – from direct-to-consumer programming and live stream broadcasts to video-on-demand catalogs on OTT platforms. Additionally, video file sizes are becoming larger in order to keep pace with the demand for a high-definition visual experience from 4K to 8K to virtual reality.

“Media and entertainment organizations need to ensure efficient and cost-effective storage from video creation, production, delivery, and archive,” said Adrian Herrera, senior director of corporate and product marketing for DataCore. “Swarm is ideal for the M&E industry because it that solves the challenges associated with storing and protecting rapidly growing digital assets while keeping them online and accessible. Swarm optimizes storage and access at every stage of the digital asset lifecycle – from production to delivery to long-term preservation.”

Media and entertainment organizations including studios, production houses, broadcasters, and service providers can use Swarm to store what they need, ensure media integrity, and keep assets online and accessible for reuse and monetization. Offered as software-only or as an all-in-one appliance, Swarm includes built-in streaming, content management, partial file restore, search, multi-site deployment, and native data protection.

“Nominees like DataCore are revolutionizing the way people experience media and entertainment,” said NAB Executive Vice President of Conventions and Business Operations Chris Brown. “The 2021 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards highlight the best of what’s new and celebrates the breakthroughs and advancements within the content industry.”

Media and entertainment organizations around the world use DataCore Swarm to:

  • Keep media content online, searchable, and accessible
  • Stream videos directly from the archive
  • Reduce costs and optimize shared storage
  • Gain on-demand access and enterprise protection to archives
  • Provide a more cost-effective option over cloud storage for large media libraries and archives

NAB Show Product of the Year Award Winners are selected by a panel of industry experts in 16 categories and were announced in a live awards ceremony on November 3. To be eligible for an award, nominated products had to come from companies scheduled to exhibit in either the 2020 or 2021 NAB Show and delivered within the 2021 calendar year.
