Object Matrix Empowers Distributed Media Workflows with New Technology Releases

Cardiff, Wales, 12th April 2023 – Object Matrix has announced the latest updates to its MatrixStore solution ahead of NAB Show, Las Vegas. The Object Matrix Quattro appliance has been designed for operations across smaller or remote sites, making it perfect for dispersed media workflows. The compact and powerful storage solution has built-in applications and multi-cloud support. In addition, a new microservices version of its Vision application for media and metadata management, is due for full release by September and is currently in a beta test phase.

Object Matrix Quattro has been designed to provide simple and intuitive media management for on-prem or cloud-based assets. The highly resilient storage platform is easy to use, cost-effective, and comes in a compact form factor that is suitable for smaller offices and remote locations. This makes it the ideal solution for news bureaus, sports associations and teams, as well as production, post-production, and VFX companies with more than one facility.

The addition of microservices of Vision for media and metadata management, will address the industry’s need to fully manage assets, from core to edge to the cloud, with innovative and non-proprietary data governance. Content created and ingested at a remote office or bureau is protected on the local platform. Metadata can be added using custom forms on ingest so that content can be searched, browsed, and shared locally, or from any location, using the Vision media and metadata management application. When content is ingested locally it can, if required, be replicated to another location, with all the associated metadata. This ensures that creative professionals can access content from anywhere, for efficient global collaboration and streamlined workflows.

Object Matrix Quattro can be deployed stand-alone, in hub and spoke configurations, or in a multi-cloud storage environment. It takes up to 2u in a standard IT rack and can be configured with SSDs from 22TB to 96TB.

Vision can be deployed in containers, on-premise, or in the cloud. Little or no IT skills are needed to run and maintain the solution, so it is ideally suited to sites that have limited in-house resources. This increases operational efficiency when managing media assets and archive content.

Jonathan Morgan, Managing Director, Object Matrix, commented: “The challenge for media organisations today is less about data storage, and more about the secure governance, availability, and flexible management of creative assets. Content teams in the news and sports sector frequently operate from multiple locations. Being able to work collaboratively, and manage media in a simple and efficient way is absolutely critical. Object Matrix Quattro, combined with Vision for media and metadata management, puts content in your entire team’s hands.”
