SANsymphony-V shown to the masses at CeBIT 2011

CeBIT 2011, Hanover. DataCore Software will showcase its storage virtualisation software, SANsymphony™-V Release 8.0, for the first time to the large audience gathered at CeBIT 2011 (March 1 to 5, Hanover, Germany). Within the “Virtualisation & Storage Forum” (Hall 2 / Booth A30), organized by distribution partner Arrow ECS, DataCore will feature how storage virtualization software can enhance both server and desktop virtualisation projects. DataCore Alliance Partners, VMware, Citrix and Microsoft are also represented at the forum booth.

SANsymphony-V enables users to avoid ‘Rip and Replace’ and repurpose of use conventional storage devices. SANsymphony-V adds high-performance and non-stop availability to shared storage solutions enabling dynamic storage, desktop and server virtualisation infrastructures. The new software generation reduces complexity and eliminates typical performance problems and storage-related downtime and disruptions from impacting business-critical applications such as databases or e-mail servers. SANsymphony-V addresses and automates the three major jobs of storage: Capacity Management, Performance Management and Data Protection Management. It can automate provisioning of capacity via thin provisioning; through adaptive caching it can meet the needs of a variety of different workloads automatically and it can auto configure high-availability data protection to prevent failures, delays and downtime impacts to your business.

DataCore will also highlight its close partnerships with leading virtualisation vendors that support SANsymphony-V and will be working closely on the CeBIT stand with them:

“Microsoft’s full range of virtualisation solutions provides partners and customers with an effective way to save costs, increase availability and improve agility within their business infrastructure,” said Mike Schutz, senior director of product management for the Server and Cloud division at Microsoft Corp. “By using Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V and Microsoft System Center, DataCore SANsymphony-V will help customers reduce the cost of storage while delivering improved performance and availability.”

“Through our partnership with DataCore, VMware is able to deliver the benefits of simple, complementary and highly available storage solutions optimized to work with the VMware platform,” said Parag Patel, vice president, Global Strategic Alliances, VMware. “The new SANsymphony-V helps expand the benefits of VMware solutions including improved storage hardware flexibility, additional disk space utilization and high availability.”

“Storage infrastructure and costs are a large part of any desktop virtualisation implementation, and thus it is critical that IT manage these resources to ensure a successful rollout. With storage virtualisation solutions like those from DataCore and its latest release of SANsymphony-V, customers are able to use their existing storage resources for Citrix XenDesktop in a more effective, and cost-effective manner,” said Natalie Lambert, director of product marketing, enterprise applications and desktops at Citrix.
