DataCore Software Named Winner in Server & Storage Technology Category for TechAmerica Foundation American Technology Awards

WASHINGTON, D.C. and FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – June 16, 2011 – DataCore Software, the industry’s premier provider of storage virtualization software, has been named the winner in the Server & Storage Technology category for the American Technology Awards, which bestows the only “Best Of” awards that recognize all technology products and services for the technology industry. The award was attributed to DataCore’s newest software release, SANsymphony™- V. This next-generation solution eliminates storage-related barriers that prevent IT organizations from realizing the financial and operational goals of their virtualization initiatives.

Nominations for The American Technology Awards, referred to as “The Termans,” were vetted by industry experts and technology companies. These awards have been named after Frederick Terman, who is widely credited as being the father of Silicon Valley.

Released in January 2011, SANsymphony-V software enables data centers to use existing equipment and conventional storage devices to achieve the robust and responsive shared storage environment necessary to support highly dynamic virtual IT environments. This contrasts sharply with the expensive “rip and replace” approaches being proposed to support desktop and server virtualization projects.

“Companies today are struggling with desktop and server virtualization deployments because the traditional storage approach is a barrier to these implementations,” said George Teixeira, president and CEO of DataCore Software. “However, that doesn’t have to be the case. Many companies can succeed in their virtualization ambitions by embracing software-based storage virtualization to make virtualization infrastructures a reality – all while extending the life of their current hardware infrastructure. DataCore is pleased to be recognized by the TechAmerica Foundation for our contributions to the virtualization market.”

“We had a lot of nominations for these prestigious awards, and we congratulate DataCore Software for their winning achievement,” said Senator Bob Bennett, Chairman for TechAmerica Foundation. “TechAmerica Foundation is excited to highlight DataCore Software, as it continues to influence technology development throughout the rest of the world.”

DataCore’s recognition by TechAmerica is the latest in a series of honors bestowed upon the company in 2011. The company was recognized by Everything Channel in CRN’s new Virtualization 100 list, which serves as the de facto resource by which VARs can begin to evaluate the best virtualization products for their business. This is in addition to Everything Channel’s 2011 ranking of DataCore to the 2011 Partner Programs Guide, and its 5-Star Partner rating for the second straight year. DataCore also gained recognition in Europe by winning one of the UK’s top networking accolades — the Data Center Product of the Year Award at the prestigious 2011 Network Computing Awards.

The American Technology Awards were presented for each of following segments of the technology industry: Aerospace and Defense; Clean Tech/Green Tech/Smart Grid; Cloud Computing/Software as a Service; Computers and Peripherals; Consumer Electronics; Cyber Security and Authentication; Electronic Components; Internet Services; Measurement and Control Instruments; Medical Devices; Server & Storage Technology; Software; Technology Consulting; Technology Services; and Telecommunications. Additional award categories include: Breakthrough Technology; Corporate Leadership; and Government Technology Executive of the Year.

The winners were announced on June 15 at TechAmerica Foundation’s ninth annual Technology and Government Dinner which has been a premier Washington, D.C. networking event bringing hundreds of industry, congressional and government leaders together at one venue to celebrate the partnership between industry and government.
