Three Editions to Choose From
DataCore™ SDS products are available in three software editions, EN, ST and LS with different prices per Terabyte (price/TB). Both Subscription and Perpetual licensing options are available.
Enterprise-class edition offers the highest performance, richest feature set and the most flexibility
Standard edition is ideal for midrange requirements
Large-scale secondary storage edition is tailored for backup, archive and less frequently accessed data where lower cost and higher capacity are favored over performance
Pay as You Grow
- 1 year ST subscription license, including Support and Software Updates
- Volume discounts apply
- Governmental and Educational organizations are eligible for additional discounts

Flexible Deployment Options
Each edition may be configured with existing or new servers and storage to:
- Pool and virtualize popular storage arrays from any of the major manufacturers
- Create purpose-built storage servers (converged or server SAN)
- Hyperconverge storage across a cluster of servers (HCI)
- Create combinations of the above
Nodes licensed for different editions cooperate in a centrally-managed pool to address diverse infrastructure-wide requirements.
Subscription or Perpetual Licenses – Your Choice
The software may be licensed in three ways:
- Annual and multi-year term software licenses*
- Perpetual software licenses with recurring annual support fee
- Integrated system* consisting of a hardware appliance with a multi-year term software license
- 24×7 Premier Support from DataCore is included for the contracted term
*Secure access to our cloud-based analytics platform, DataCore™ Insight Services (DIS), is included with subscription licenses. DIS delivers predictive monitoring, analytics and issue resolution, actionable intelligence, and proactive optimizations all through a single pane of glass. Learn more about DIS here.
Granular Capacity Increments
The entry point and capacity expansion increment for EN and ST nodes may be as little as 1 TB, making them ideal for remote or edge requirements where compact, highly available solutions are necessary. Capacity expansion for LS deployments, well suited for large, secondary storage requirements come in steps of 50TBs or more per node.
Lower Prices as Capacity Consumption Grows
The price per TB for capacity expansion decreases as your total Terabytes under management crosses different bands. For example, when you add enough licenses to reach the 50-99 TB range for a given edition, your price per TB for the expansion licenses will be lower than if your total was in the 25-49 TB range.
MSRPs and sliding scale price bands are subject to change without notice. The total capacity used in the determination is based on current active TBs under continuous support contract for the edition.
Please consult a DataCore-authorized partner in your vicinity for pricing on the overall solution. Prices may vary in different geographic regions.
Each instance of a DataCore™ SDS node requires two types of licenses.
- Zero-capacity base license
- Capacity expansion license(s)
The base licenses determine which Edition (EN, ST or LS) you’ve chosen for that node.
Capacity expansion licenses govern the maximum number of TBs the node or group of nodes can control underneath it.
For example, a high-available group of two ST nodes, where each instance manages 38TBs of storage would require each node to have:
- One zero-capacity base ST license*
- 38TBs of ST capacity expansion licenses
If at a later time, data growth dictates adding another 12TBs of storage to one of the instances, you would simply license another 12TBs of ST capacity expansion licenses and activate them on that node, raising its maximum capacity to 50TBs.
*The zero-capacity licenses should be requested from the Customer Support web site. They must be activated before or together with the capacity expansion licenses.
